Cathy Spalding
Gentle Spirit Behavior & Training
2-Day Clinic
was held  at Wild Oak Llamas in July 2009

Our Llamas & Alpacas are "Talking" to us all the time.
Cathy helped us to understand what they are saying!

Topics covered included  recognizing behavior as it relates to our training & herd management choices, positioning, leading, leading issues/ techniques, use of a confidence course using obstacles, group problem solving of difficult behavioral issues.  Included actual "hands on" work by all participants in these areas with llamas.

Why does "Penny" spit when being haltered?
WAIT! He NEVER let's me touch his face!!
Cathy Spalding helped us to learn that as she says.." Understanding Behavior is the key to training & herd management." Cathy has been doing this since 1985 and it is incredible to watch and learn from her.  No wonder so many Alpaca and Llama owners refer to her as the "Alpaca-Whisperer" or "Llama-Whisperer".  Cathy is a great instructor and teaches us her "secrets" which are very simple & basic principals of behavior and yet magical when working with these magnificent creatures. Thank you Cathy Spalding for being the person you are and teaching us just how magical these Alpacas and Llamas really are!

Folks were asking if we will do another Spalding Clinic next year??  Our answer... You Betch-ya.  In 2010 we will encourage even more folks from both the Alpaca community and the Llama community to participate. What a wonderful time to get to know each other and our animals.
